Napranum Aboriginal Shire Council through its Mayor, councillors and staff provide services to the residents living in Napranum community. Napranum, meaning ‘meeting place’, is located 819 kilometers North West of Cairns on the western side of the Cape York Peninsula. Napranum is home to approximately 1000 Indigenous people who are descended from as many as 40 different groups from around Cape York Peninsula.
2016 Local Government Quadrennial Elections
The 2016 Local Elections were held on Saturday 19 March, 2016. The position of Mayor was contested and a Notice of Result of Election 22 March, 2016 for Mayor has been published.
There were four nominations for the four Councillor positions and those four nominations have been elected unopposed. The Notice of Result of Election for Councillors has now also been published.
The Napranum Aboriginal Shire Council has now put the proposed Napranum Aboriginal Shire Council planning scheme on public notice.
A hard copy of the planning scheme is available for viewing and purchase at Council.
